Pumpkin/Sweet Potato Dog Treats
(From Our November 2014 Newsletter - Grandma C. -)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin or sweet potato (either fresh baked or canned, just be sure it's unsweetened)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsps. dry milk
- ¼ tsp. sea salt
- 2½ cups wheat flour or brown rice flour, your choice
Mix eggs and pumpkin (or sweet potato) with a wire whisk until smooth. Add dry milk and salt.
Begin adding flour gradually, mixing with a spatula until it becomes stiff, then mix with your hands.
The dough will be dry!
Place dough on a floured surface. Roll it out to a thickness of ¼ to ½. Smaller thickness would be for a smaller dog… depending on chewing ability.
Cut dough with cookie cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Perforate each piece with a fork once before you bake.
Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees, turning the biscuit over after the first 20 minutes. Let them cool completely.
