Simple Baked Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients
- 2 lbs lean ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 yellow onion, coarsely chopped
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 bags shredded cabbage
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
- 1 TBSP Italian seasoning
- Salt and Pepper
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
**Spray a glass baking dish (approx. 13x9) with cooking spray.
Lightly saute the onions and garlic in a skillet with 1 tbsp olive or vegetable oil.
Add the meat and cook over medium heat until browned. Drain if necessary -(
lean meat will not produce a significant amount of grease).
In a mixing bowl, combine tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning and uncooked rice. Salt and Pepper to taste. Stir to mix.
In the bottom of the glass baking dish, layer 1/2 of the cabbage, 1/2 of ground meat mixture and 1/2 of the sauce mixture.
Repeat this process.
Pour the beef broth over the casserole.
Cover and bake for approximately 1 hour. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
**Note: If using a smaller baking dish, make 3 layers of the mixture and increase the baking time to 1 hour 20 minutes.
This meal is great when served with garlic toast!
