5 Common Fitness Saboteurs And How To Defeat Them

Ever have those days where you feel like you‘re never going to reach your goal?  Did you know that even fitness fanatics face the same challenges?  Sometimes we sabotage ourselves by expecting instant results.  Other times the hectic day to day grind of life gets in the way and in some cases, unnecessary comments from other people make us second guess if what we are trying to accomplish is even worth it.

The most important thing to remember is that whatever you are doing as far as your fitness goes, make sure you are doing it for yourself.  No matter how busy your life may be, if you start out and remain committed, you can always find a way to get some sort of exercise worked into your daily routine.  Again, the biggest reason that most of us give up on exercising is that we sabotage ourselves.

Here are the top 5 fitness saboteurs and ways to help battle them:

  1. Stress - Everyone deals with stress whether it is dead lines to make, financial problems, work or even family.  Talking a short walk or a doing a quick work out is the best thing to relive stress.

  2. Unrealistic Expectations – Everyone wants to see quick results after they start a fitness routine.  When people don‘t see a sudden change they decide it‘s not working and give up.  Set realistic goals, don‘t give up, your body needs time to respond to the exercise.

  3. Over training – People believe they have to work out every day so they will see results.  Over working the body decreases performance.  A day or two off is recommended for your body to rest and recover.

  4. The Unexpected - Things don‘t go you as planned for that day.  A lot of people just give up on that day but if you're really committed you can always figure out a new way to get in a workout and I might even help put the rest of the day/evening back on the right track.

  5. Negative Self Talk – We all do it…  “I‘m not seeing results…”  “I‘ll never be fit”.  Negative talk destroys your self-confidence.  Changing your attitude to a positive one you might see better results.
Even though things don‘t always go as planned or you‘re not seeing sudden results, just be happy with what you have accomplished that day, whether it was a quick walk to relief some stress, a simple quick workout because you ran out of time or even a day of rest.  But always remember STAY POSITIVE!!

Quick And Easy French Bread Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of hard crusted french bread (either store bought or your own recipe)

  • 1 jar pizza sauce

  • 1-2 cups of grated mozzarella cheese (individual preferences vary)

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Toppings of your choice: Pepperoni • Sausage • Canadian Bacon • Mushrooms • Olives
Onion • Bell Pepper • Pineapple • (The possibilities are endless!)

Start by slicing the french bread in half lengthwise with a bread knife.

Spread ½ jar of pizza sauce on each half.  Add your choice of toppings, salt and pepper to taste.  Add the cheese last.

Place on a cookie sheet lined with foil (I use foil because melted cheese hardens and sticks to the pan, and foil prevents the messy clean-up!)

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 10-12 minutes, until cheese is melted and slightly browned on top.  Slice to serve.

This recipe is a quick TV night recipe and kids love it. It's also great for a football or baseball party.

THE ARTICHOKE:  It‘s a natural anti-oxidant and it‘s loaded with vitamin C giving you a great immune system boost.  They are also loaded with fiber which is great for digestion health, and they are fat free (AKA=Bikini-Friendly)!  Artichokes can be eaten cooked or raw.

THE FIG:  Fresh figs can be found in markets during the spring which makes NOW the perfect time to stock up!  Figs are crazy-good for you.  They are loaded with potassium, calcium, iron, vitamin B6 and fiber!  It‘s like the multi-vitamin of all fruits!  Eat them fresh!

THE WILD ONION:  Yet another spring favorite among fellow health-nuts!  Wild onions, or “ramps,” offer incredible anti-oxidant benefits.  They contain vital minerals our bodies need to stay healthy.  They help promote heart health and are known to help prevent certain cancers!  Eat it like you would an onion, or garlic!

Expo

Arizona Health & Fitness Expo

March 22nd, 23rd and 24th Savon participated in the Arizona Health And Fitness Expo at the Arizona State Fairgrounds.

Over course of 3 days we saw more than 6,000 people come through the exhibit halls.  We estimate that we had about 500 people a day stop at our booth and that we handed out well over 200 applications.

Although this may not sound like a lot of interest, remember that we have a very specialized product and a lot of people have dental coverage elsewhere.

We did have the opportunity to help a lot of people compare Savon with their current dental coverage and most of them were quite impressed with Savon.

One of the best aspects of the Expo was the opportunity to spend some time with current members of the plan.  Although we speak to a lot of members on the phone everyday, it is always nice to actually see a member in person and it is extremely satisfying to hear how much money they saved with the plan.

We would also like to let you know that the Amazing Woman's Expo is going to be August 17th and 18th at the Phoenix Convention Center.  Savon will be in booth 515 so mark your calendars for this event.  We will have a limited number of free tickets and we will send out an email notice when they are available.
