The Benefits Of Exercise - 10 minute home cardio workout routine
In this months newsletter, I will continue with part 2 of our 8 part discussion on the benefits of exercise. This month I will cover a 10 minute home cardio workout routine. Next month I will cover Walking For Health. I invite you to follow along as I continue to explore the Benefits of Exercise.
We all know we need to exercise. Some of you may have gym memberships but have a hard time scheduling trips to the gym. With or without a gym, here is a 10 minute home cardio workout you can do during some free time you have at home. This is a great way to burn some calories, lose weight and feel great. I recommend doing these exercises during commercials while you watch your favorite TV show. This way you get a break between each set and the time seems to fly!
Here are 4 types of cardio workouts you can easily do at home:
|
Rocket Jumps- 2 sets of 15-24 Reps*
Start by standing with feet shoulder width apart, do a squat with the legs slightly bent and hands on top of the thighs. Jump straight up and drive your hands up into the air above your head. Repeat.
Star Jump- 2 sets of 15-24 Reps*
Start by bending you knees slightly. Jump up, have your legs and arms in a shape of a star in the air (arm extended like you are getting your arm span checked, and legs spread). Repeat.
Squats- 2 sets of 15-24 Reps*
Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, bend knees until they are at a right angle. Extend arms out in front of your body. Stand back up and repeat.
Squat Thrust- 2 sets of 15 to 24 reps*
Start by standing, and then drop to a squat with your hands on the floor, kick your feet back into a push- up position, jump your feet back into a squat with your hands on the floor, and finally jump up into the air with your hands above your head. Repeat.
*If you are a beginner, begin with smaller reps and work your way up.

More Surprising Home Remedies That Actually Work!
It‘s our favorite topic again!! Home remedies! In past months we have covered everything from household products to power foods that cure our simple every day ailments. Now we have more to add to the list! Read on as we learn how to soften our skin with licorice and the new ways we can use Listerine!
I haven‘t tried all of them but I know for a fact a few of them work!! Check them out!!
- Cure Foot Odor with Vodka!! Smelly feet?? Wipe them down with a washcloth soaked with vodka! The alcohol in vodka acts as an antiseptic and destroys the odor causing bacteria.
- Kill Bad Breath With Yogurt!! The good bacteria that lives in yogurt helps suppress the levels of bad-breath causing bacteria.
|
- Battle A Blister With Listerine! The antiseptic found in the product helps dry out a blister and relieve you from pain. Listerine also works to cure toenail fungus!!!
- Kick a Cold Sore With Lemon Balm Tea. The herb has antiviral properties that help tame herpes outbreaks. Brew 2 to 4 tablespoons of the tea and dab on cold sore with a cotton ball several times a day.
- Get Rid Of Calluses And Corns With Licorice! Containing an estrogen-like substance, licorice is a natural skin softener. Make home made paste by grinding up a few licorice sticks mixed with a half a teaspoon of petroleum jelly. Rub the mixture on to the effected areas before bed.
- Afford A Foot Massage! Don‘t bother paying a professional for something you can do yourself at home with a tennis ball!!
- Clear Up Eczema With Olive Oil! Simply apply olive oil directly to affected area. It creates a seal, preventing skin from drying out.
- Lower High Blood Pressure With An MP3 Player! Studies have shown that listening to music and breathing slowly for 30 minutes were able to drastically lower their blood pressure.
- Ease Motion Sickness With Olives Or Lemons! Lemons and olives both have compounds that dry out your mouth and help to ease queasiness. Pop a couple olives or suck on a lemon at the first sign of nausea.
- Cure Frustration By Chewing Cinnamon Gun! Studies have shown that cinnamon flavored gum or candy can lower frustration and anxiety by 25%!!
- Kick A UTI with baking soda! ¼ a teaspoon mixed with 8 oz of water will help reduce the bacteria‘s ability to multiply, which should keep you comfortable until you can get to the doctor and get antibiotics.
- Keep A Cut Clean With Cloves! Sprinkling powdered cloves on a cut will keep it from becoming infected. It works as both an antiseptic and a pain-killer.
Come back and join us next month for another batch of amazing home remedies! Have a safe and happy back to school!!

Understanding Insurance Language - Part Seven Of An Eight Part Series
This is a continuation of our July 2012 series dealing with breaking down of some of the more commonly misunderstood phrases and definitions encountered in the search for adequate health coverage. You may already be familiar with several, but please read on - some of these definitions go beyond the written word.
- CANCELLATION:
Usually, the criteria used for raising rates is the same criteria used for canceling coverage. If a carrier can raise rates based on claims, it can probably cancel coverage for the same reason. If rate increases are based on geographical costs, or increases by age group, then the basis for cancellation might be everyone in your geographical location or everyone in your age group - or both. Personally, I favor increases (or cancellation) as something everyone around me experiences equally, rather than me based on my claims.
Keep in mind, insurance carriers never pay out more for the medical claims than they collect in premiums. They would go broke - after all, where would the money come from??
- FINE PRINT:
An insurance policy is boring reading, but it should be reviewed upon receipt, not when you have a claim to file. This is the time many people find to be in the "Oh, my God!" category: after a $15,000 gall bladder surgery, a young woman finds that her so-called top-rated policy only covers $5,000 of that operation (I know - I was that female....obviously before I understood anything about agents, policies and terms). If you read nothing else, make sure your name and the coverage you remember signing up for is what you got; read the sections entitled "Exclusions" and "Limitations" - these are the "bad news" sections, so to speak. Make sure the stated premium is what you requested, and the effective date is accurate.
- MEDICAL RECORDS:
To help yourself, make sure that your medical records are up-to-date and accurate. Call your doctor(s) and ask for copies of your files. These are yours and you are entitled to them. You would be surprised to find that at least 15% of all coverage declines are due to incorrect information in medical files. I had a customer who didn't know she had diabetes (she didn't, but an incorrect entry in her file told the insurance carrier she did), a man who didn't know he was manic-depressive (the entry should have been made in his son's file, not his), and one who was diagnosed with breast cancer (but on page 13 of her file, the diagnosis was refuted - but underwriters don't care to read through 13 pages of medical records - that correction should have been made on the front page). Know what is in your records.
