How To Overcome Overeating
The holidays are over, no need to wake up bloated, stuffed and sluggish from all those parties last month. It‘s a new year, time to get your eating habits back on track and stop overeating. Yes there are times where we are going to overeat but if you memorize these simple tips you will flush out those toxins in your body.
1. Eat Protein and Potassium at breakfast: Having a solid breakfast helps prevent overeating throughout the day. Protein is the key, so think eggs, yogurt and cheese. These foods keep you fuller longer. Potassium is equally important and can be found in fruits and vegetables. Sample breakfast: Cottage cheese and cantaloupe: Stuff ½cantaloupe with ½ cup of low fat cottage cheese.
|
2. Get in the right mind-set: The last thing we want to do is exercise, but starting your day with a 30-45 minute workout every morning will help fight off bloat. Exercise in the morning helps put to you in the right-mind set, which helps you make healthy choices throughout the day.
3. Go Green: Drinking green tea helps satisfy your appetite and like water, helps fill you up which takes the edge off of hunger.
4. Kick up the heat: Try loading up on spicy food or hot sauces or use spices such as cayenne pepper, hot peppers.
5. Load up on Veggies: Eat non-starchy veggies such as broccoli, spinach and carrots, These are rich in fiber and water. Avoid starchy veggies such as corn, potatoes and peas, thes can lead to bloating. Try to eat 1 cup of veggies for breakfast or a snack and 2 cups for lunch and dinner.
Remember one day of splurging is not the end of the world, but get back on track the next day!

Exercise Ball: An “All-Around” Workout Tool For Both Men And Women
Is getting or keeping fit one your New Year Resolutions? I know it is for me. The problem with that is that it is a resolution is not often met.
Why is that? Part of it is that most people cannot afford to get a bunch of workout machines, weight benches and exercise apparatus for their house. Nor can everyone afford a monthly gym subscription. Well, I am going to tell you about an exercise accessory that is affordable and effective as an “all-around” tool.
The exercise ball. This inflatable ball can take you from the start of your workout (stretching and warm-up) through the peak of your workout (no matter what area you are working that day) all the way to the end of your workout (cool down).
|
Stretching and Warm-Up: The flexibility of the ball is great for assisting you with your stretches. You can stretch every part of your body.
Peak of workout: You can work out any muscle with this ball; your core, legs, arms, upper body, back, neck… everything. If you want that effective push-up, put your feet up on the ball and do push-ups. Sit in the ball, rock backward and get sit-ups that will have your core burning in no time.
End of workout: Sitting on the ball (or bouncing) will allow you to properly cool down while keeping your muscles in a tensed but relaxed state as well as keeping your back straight.
There are so many other uses for it, too. I have a friend that uses it at work as her office chair throughout the day. This helps her to keep from slouching in her chair and causing back problems.
Here is the nice thing. They are REALLY cheap. Depending on the size you want, they range from $8.00 - $20.00. That is much cheaper than putting a gym in your house or paying for a membership into one. Being inflatable means that you cam take it anywhere, too. If you have not tried it yet, I would strongly advise it. Each ball comes with tips for different types of workouts and stretches. So if you want to start off 2014 with a workout plan that is in a good price range, the exercise ball is a great tool have!
