Once the shopping is complete, an itemized list of how much was taken in and where it was spent will be available on the website. We hope to be able to start the shopping by November 25th with delivery of both food and presents made by December 8th.
The family that we will adopt will be chosen by The Salvation Army and the goods will be delivered to the family by them. Remember: $1.00 means very little to most of us but with the power of our membership, it can make a BIG difference in the life of a family.
Please send your $1.00 to Savon Dental Plan Charity at PO Box 6055, Glendale, AZ 85312 and let's work together to make a difference!!

Implants… They Aren‘t As Scary As You Think
So the dentist has recommended an implant…first word that comes to mind for most patients is…OUCH!
Truthfully, most often that is not the case.
With the constant changes in treatments today, implants are becoming the norm as a replacement of missing teeth and removable partial and complete dentures. Some dentists would say that having an implant placed is the closest thing to permanent dentistry that you can have done. Mind you, dentists often shy away from the word “permanent”. So implants are definitely a great thing.
|
Having spent hours upon hours working chairside along dentists who are restoring implants, my question to most of those patients was “did it hurt?” The response was almost always unanimous. “ NO.”
How is that possible you ask? Believe it or not, most patients have implants placed under local anesthetic. Local anesthesia has the ability to numb the pain sensors that cause most people discomfort during procedures. Since the bone itself has no feeling, once the pain fibers and nerves are sleeping, the rest is easy as pie. Most dental facilities do have methods of sedation on hand for those of you who become a bit weak the knees at the thought of having any dental treatment done.
As for the healing process, most patients say there is little to no discomfort afterwards.
If your dentist has recommended an implant, do not hesitate to ask what methods of anesthesia are available to suit your needs.

Vibraboard
What is the Vibraboard? The Vibraboard is a biomechanical stimulation table that vibrates. The vibration ranges for 5.0 to 50.0 hertz. The vibraboard works on the entire body at one time. Once you began the treatment, an assistant will help you on to the table and once you are comfortable then he/she will set the vibration at a low setting (5-8 hertz) for about 5 min. Then after that he/she will raise the vibration to (25-28 hertz) for 10 min. Next they raise the vibration up to your preference for 15 min. After the 15 min. they reverse the order. Your total treatment last about 45 min.
What are the settings for? Well the lower range is to help support lymphatic flow and relaxation. The middle range is to support relief from pain. And the upper range is to increase strength and bone strength.
Biomechanical stimulation has shown ligaments, bones, and skin heals faster with vibration!

Some Natural Ways To Treat A Diaper Rash
The best thing for diaper rash is fresh air. Go without a diaper for awhile. You can even lay a cloth diaper underneath baby when he is taking a nap. Make sure you keep checking and if the diaper gets wet and replace it with a dry one.
You can try tea bags. Place 3 or 4 tea bags into the diaper at diaper change. When he pee's the tea bags release a certain chemical that helps in the healing of diaper rash. It may turn your his bottom brown but the rash will be gone within 24 hours.
Oatmeal works wonders and is a healthy alternative for diaper rash. Before bathing your baby put some oatmeal in the water and stir in. Don‘t have oatmeal? You can put two tablespoons of baking soda into the babies bath water. Mix it in until it is all dissolved. Soak your babies bottom in it for at least 10 minutes every day.
|
Try using the milk of magnesia. Each diaper change pour milk of magnesia onto the rash. Should work quick and you should notice difference with the next diaper change.
Vegetable oil is something else you can try also. After a bath, making sure the diaper area is completely dry, rub plain vegetable oil in both your hands and rub into the babies bottom. Do this with each diaper change.
Last, try some cod liver oil capsules. Cut the tip off about 4 and pour the oil onto your babies rash and rub it in. If the rash is only small you may need to only use 1 or 2 capsules.

Insurance Insight:
"I don‘t have any issues with my back but because I see a chiropractor on a regular basis, the carrier won‘t cover my back!, Why is that?”
How often do you see the chiropractor? And what did the chiropractor put down as the diagnosis? A carrier has no problem with the person who sees a chiropractor five or six times a year; they do have a problem with the applicant who sees one every week of the year “because it feels good.” The carrier is not there to provide feel-good benefits, they are there to cover medically necessary services. By putting chiropractic bills through the insurance carrier week after week so that you can “feel good,” you are telling the carrier this is a medical necessity which, by definition, means there is a medical issue that requires attention.
On the flip side, many providers have been known to put claims through an insurance carrier and reference more than is actually wrong in order to get the carrier to pay. This is technically fraud but patients don‘t always know what the provider may have put in their file. Trust me: I have been there. It‘s not just one type of provider: many gynecologists will put down “urinary tract infection” in order to get a pap smear covered if for some reason it would not have been (i.e., a preventative wellness waiting period). So the female gets an exclusion on UTIs and complains that she never had any - but that‘s what her doctor put down, so who will the carrier believe? And if she says to the carrier that her doctor “only put it down that way in order to get the claim paid,” she is admitting to insurance fraud.
