A Complete Glossary of Dental Definitions
DentistA Dentist is a person who has successfully completed a course of study at a dental school that lasts between three and four years (in the United States).
After successful completion of this course of study, a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) is awarded. After this degree is received, the dentist must take state examinations so that a license to practice dentistry is obtained before he or she can actually treat the public. |
