A Complete Glossary of Dental Definitions
BridgeA bridge is a structure spanning over a gap. A bridge in dentistry is an appliance, either fixed in the mouth or removable, that replaces one or more missing teeth. A partial denture is sometimes called a removable bridge. Usually when the dentist refers to a bridge, he/she is referring to a fixed appliance that is cemented to the teeth on either side of the missing tooth (teeth) and is not removed by the patient from the mouth. |
