- - Cement is a mixture that holds things together
- Cementum
- - A bony substance covering the root of a tooth
- Central
- - The two upper and two lower teeth in the very center of your mouth
- Cephalometric Radiograph
- - A cephalometric radiograph is an x-ray of the head
- Cephalometric Viewer
- - An x-ray viewer.
- Cephalometric X-Rays
- - An x-ray of the head that shows whether your teeth are aligned properly, and whether they are growing properly
- Cheek Retractors
- - Small plastic pieces used to draw back your lips and cheeks so the orthodontist can more easily see you teeth and work in your mouth.
- Class I Malocclusion
- - A Malocclusion where your bite is OK (your top teeth line up with your bottom teeth) but your teeth are crooked, crowded or turned.
- Class II Malocclusion
- - A Malocclusion where your upper teeth stick out past your lower teeth. This is also called an "overbite" or "buck teeth"
- Class III Malocclusion
- - Malocclusion where your lower teeth stick out past your upper teeth. This is also called an "underbite".
- Cleft Palate
- - Congenital deformity resulting in lack of fusion of the soft and/or hard palate; either partial or complete.
- Clenching

- - A malocclusion where your upper teeth cover your lower teeth when you bite down. This is also called a "deep bite."

- - Complete series of x-rays in dentistry means usually 18-20 individual x-rays
- Composite filling
- - A composite filling is a tooth colored filling
- Compound Fracture
- - Break in a bone which exposed to external contamination
- Consultation
- - A meeting with the dentist or dental staff to consult on dental questions or treatments.
- Contiguous
- - Adjacent; touching
- Coping
- - the sub structure of the inside of a crown or fabricated restoration.
- Core Buildup
- - Procedure done in preparation or in conjunction with a crown or bridge to give the tooth/teeth back structural integrity.
- Coronal
- - The top part of a tooth
- Crossbite
- - A malocclusion where some of your upper teeth are inside of your lower teeth when you bite down.
- Crowding
- - An orthodontic problem caused by having too many teeth in two small of a space.
- Crown Angulation
- - A tooth movement in which the root of the tooth is tipped forward or backward to correct the angle of the crown.
- Crown Inclination
- - A tooth movement in which the root of the tooth is tipped toward cheeks (lips) or toward the lingual (palate) of the mouth.
- Crown Lengthening
- - Procedure to remove gum tissues to expose more of the tooth structure.
- Crown; Artificial
- - Fabricated restoration that replaces a previously damaged clinical crown of a tooth.
- Crown; Clinical
- - The portion of the tooth not covered by tissues.
- Curettage
- - Scraping and cleaning the walls of a cavity or gigival pocket.
- Curing Light
- - Special UV light used to help attach brackets to your teeth.
- Cusp
- - A pointy part of the tooth.
- Cuspal
- - The chewing or tearing points of the cuspids, bicuspids, and molars.
- Cuspid
- - A single cusped tooth
- Cyst
- - Pathological cavity, usually lined with epithelium, containg fluid or soft matter
